Bangladesh has a long way to go for achieving gender equity. Women and girls in society are still deprived of basic education. They lack acceptable competency levels and relevant life skills. Gender discrimination is a very mazy issue in the third world countries, especially in Bangladesh. Women education is very important for the socio-economic development of a country. Though many girls do continue with secondary school, their low competency level does not allow them for quality education. Girls of Bangladesh face many obstacles in the way of proper education. The first obstacle is their family. They try to get them to be married at a very tiny age.

When women can get the same opportunities like the men, the picture of a society gets changed. If women can get quality education, they can make revolution. Today’s world sees the empowerment of women. For example: Angela Markel; Chancellor of Germany is the most powerful woman in today’s world, Michelle Obama; the first-lady of the U.S.A, is more popular than her husband Barak Obama, the president of the United States, Hillary Clinton, Melinda Gates, Dilma Rousseff, Sheryl Sandberg, Mary Barra-are some names of the powerful women in the world. This proves that if the women get proper opportunity, are well educated, concerned of the dynamic world, they can chase the world, compete with men and be the winner.

Women can do the same things men do. But in this male-dominated world, women have been deprived of every single opportunity. The world has been dynamic, but in the third word socio-cultural norms, a female child is still unwelcomed. If a baby girl is born to a family, the family members seem to be very unhappy. They still think that a girl is the burden of a family. They think that only boys are profitable and so it is advantageous to educate them because they can earn money and feed their parents; while it is unwise to educate the girls because they leaves their family after marriage. So, for this reason, women fall behind and men push forward. This practice should be stopped, because the world has moved forward and now, there is no scope left to stop the female members for greater opportunities and achievements.

In Bangladesh, female education was anecdotal even a few years ago. Most of the urban people and all of the rural people could not even think about educating their daughters. The girls were the cause of anxiety and unhappiness of their family. Those who had two or more daughters, had been worried about their marriage, not about their basic education. As for example: I belong to an educated family. Almost all the members of my family are educated. But, in spite of being educated, one of my close relatives asked my mother why she is “wasting” money for my education. I am a girl and it’ll cause a great loss for her. Hearing this, my mother replied that, “She is not my daughter, she is my son.” I’m very lucky having a mother like her. I wish very mother were like my mother! I feel very astonished that educating a girl is still considered to be the waste of money.

Quality education for a woman is much more important for the betterment of a family because the key to a happy and prosperous family belongs to the women. Educated women are the asset of a family because they know how to run a family properly, educate their children, communicate with different individuals. They remain aware of the physical and mental health of each member of the family. They know the financial ability of the family and thus can be frugal.
Nepolean once said-“Give me an educated mother and I will give you an educate nation.” This particular sentence possesses a very deep thought. From this sentence, we can realise how much important it is to educate the female fellows for a developed and civilized nation. No nation can be prosperous without educating its female members. In the present years, female education has been incremental. Girls and women are present in every sphere. They are getting themselves involved in politics, social works, business, marketing, economies, socialism, science, technology and many other areas of life. If women are able to take part in every field, then it is unwise to stop them, deprive them of quality education. They must get the same facilities like the men from their family.
It is very clear that education is a must for any country. In a country like Bangladesh, it is a must to educate the women to cope up with the developed countries of the world. When the government will ensure quality education both for men women, the country will get along. Women are more potential than men because they have resistance more than men. So it is high time to think about women education.
